Martinborough • Gladstone • Masterton

Take two rivers, warm days, cool nights and add adventurous winemaker spirit.  Place on the doorstep of a cool little capital city, and blend for 37 years.

That’s the story of hand-crafted wines from Wairarapa Wine Country, bringing together the sub-regions of Martinborough, Gladstone and Masterton.  Just over an hour from Wellington, New Zealand’s capital city.

The little region that not only could but did.  World-renowned for its flagship Pinot Noir wines of savoury complexity, distinctively boutique.

Welcome to Wairarapa Wine Country

We welcome visitors to explore the quiet peaceful beauty of our region and taste the wines we are proud to produce.

Vineyards tell the seasonal story: pruned back and sleeping in winter sunshine; lime green emerging growth in spring as new fruit develops; deeper green leaves and colourful bunches of grapes of summer; and the bright autumnal colours as grapes are harvested, and the cycle begins again.

Come over the Remutaka hill from Wellington in your own vehicle, or under the hill by train.

Let someone else drive as you take a guided Martinborough wine tour with Tranzit Gourmet Wine Tours and Martinborough Wine Tours. Or explore at a leisurely pace on a bike, with Green Jersey Cycles or IndiBikes.

Martinborough and Greytown offer many accommodation options, with self-contained cottages and houses, stylish hotels and holiday parks.
